Although Solskjær responded strongly to the remarks and used the former Ajax player early on in the meeting with Leipzig midweek, Jamie Redknapp is still unproven.
– He is a talent, and we have seen him when he has played for the Netherlands and Ajax, but Solskjær sees him day after day in training. If a player is good enough, he plays regularly. Obviously, Solskjær thinks he’s not the right man for the team yet. Maybe he’s not fit enough or isn’t showing enough training, says Redknapp on the Sky Sports Football Podcast.
– I’d probably rather have a midfielder
The former Liverpool and Tottenham player believes Solskjær regrets the purchase, which cost Manchester United £ 40m.
– The problem is where it should play. It’s very difficult for Solskjær, and I’d probably rather not have it if I want to be completely honest. I’d probably prefer the $ 40 million to be spent on a midfielder, a place where they’re definitely struggling, says Redknapp.
