The powerful director of the English football players association is open to each game being shorter than 45 minutes, and teams may have more substitutes.
These surprising thoughts arose in an interview that Gordon Taylor of the Association of Professional Soccer Players (PFA) did with BBC Radio 4 on Tuesday morning.
Taylor also mentions the possibility of parties being neutral.
He also says he does not expect Premier League matches to be played until mid-June, that is, at the same time that Norwegian clubs hope to start with the Elite series.
– We don’t know anything about the future, but we do know what suggestions have come up, the possibility of having more substitutes, maybe not 45 minutes each turn and talking about playing on a neutral field. When asked by the BBC what he means by these extreme suggestions, Gordon Taylor responds:
– What I’m saying is that there are many possibilities. Ideally, we want to maintain the integrity of the sport.
The powerful leader of the players’ association says they would rather play on club ground and with regular teams, but the important thing is whether the league can be completed or not.
– And most importantly: it can be completed safely, says Gordon Taylor.
He says the players are “concerned about their own safety.”
– They are not stupid. They want to put security first, “Taylor told BBC Radio 4.
