Pfizer: Ready to Ship Vaccines

Pharmaceutical company Pfizer says they are “ready” to distribute their corona vaccine just hours after receiving any approval.

The company has already produced more than 20 million doses of vaccines.

In an interview with Sky News, Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla says that the company “very, very soon” will seek formal approvals from world authorities.

– The light is real. There is light at the end of the tunnel, Bourla told Sky News.

95 percent effective

Pfizer recently completed the last phase, phase three, of testing the corona vaccine that they have developed in collaboration with German BioNTech.

The numbers speak for themselves:

The company claims its vaccine is 95 percent effective, a degree of effectiveness that Bourla describes as “spectacular.”

– It is a great moment for science, but more importantly, a great moment for humanity.

1.3 billion doses

A call for patience still occurs to him.

The company only hopes to be able to produce another 30 million doses by 2020, but plans to produce up to 1.3 billion doses by 2021.

Large-scale production will not begin if Pfizer’s vaccine receives sufficient approvals from world authorities.

“I think the second half of 201 will be a completely different experience for many of us,” Bourla told Sky News.

– It is not the end

In late August, the WHO chief for Europe, Hans Kluge, warned against the belief that a vaccine would solve the corona pandemic.

He emphasized that at that time not enough was known about the effect of possible vaccines in different age groups, something that is not done today, and also pointed out the logistical challenge that the world faces if we have to use different vaccines.

– I hear all the time that “the vaccine will be the end of the pandemic.” Of course, no! Klunge told the AFP news agency and continued:

– The end of this pandemic is the moment when we, as a society, learn to live with this. It’s up to us, and it’s actually quite a positive message.
