Petter Northug speaks for the first time in a long time about his own situation.
The Norwegian ski star got into trouble when he was caught driving and storing drugs earlier this summer.
At a press conference in August, Northug admitted that he has a substance abuse problem and has sought help.
Since then, the former Olympic and world cross-country ski champion has been silent, declining a number of requests for interviews.

Hard months
On his Facebook page, however, he now comes with a little update on how it goes.
– They have been hard months, but it is clear that now you are beginning to move away a little. You try to finish it and move on. The good thing about me is that things are starting to get back to normal. He has returned to normal everyday life and that is what he wants. To get back to work and be active. It will be important, says Northug.

The man from Trøndelag also explains that he has found a lot of joy training this fall.
– I feel that it is a very good medicine to go out and train. The trips I have taken have been up to 6-7 miles. Practically each one has been a long session a day. I think I have benefited from that.
He also says he plans to run long distances this winter as an athlete, if the crown situation allows.

Working with the brand
After this summer’s scandal, it was unclear whether Northug’s partners would continue to work with the Trøndelag man, but the former national team running back has received a lot of support.
Recently, it became clear that the Norwegian Ski Association is among those who wish to continue cooperation.
Northug says working with his own brand has been important to him.
– Those at work have helped me a lot. They have supported and supported me. We have agreed that we will get through this together. And we have. I feel like we stay strong together, says Northug.
It is currently unclear when Northug’s case will appear in court, but it will likely be presented as a confession case.
