On Wednesday it became known that Peter Madsen (49) in a conversation with journalist Kristian Linnemann admits to killing Kim Wall in 2017.
Madsen has been sentenced to life in prison, but has so far denied the murder.
Now Madsen’s Russian wife, Jenny Curpen (39), is furious and says Madsen didn’t know the 20-hour phone conversation with Linnemann was recorded.
– It has nothing to do with who’s to blame. It’s my fault she died. And it’s my fault, because I committed the crime. It’s all my fault, says Madsen on Discovery’s “The Secret Recordings.”

In a Facebook post, Curpen claims that Linnemann did not inform Madsen that he recorded the phone calls.
“I must point out that all the material he brings is something that he has obtained illegally and with manipulation,” he writes.
She calls Linnemann’s actions “unethical, unprofessional, irresponsible, and unacceptable.”
Affirms that both
In the post, Curpen says that Linnemann contacted the couple to tell them that he was interested in making a documentary about the much-discussed case.
According to the latter, both Madsen and Curpen said no to participate.
“We do not want, nor do we need, that kind of care, and we continue to try to avoid it as much as possible,” he writes.
He says the only reason Madsen agreed to speak to Linnemann on the phone was that he wanted to talk about the possibility of publishing an autobiography.
A world of guilt
In the documentary, Madsen does not say directly that he killed the Swedish journalist, but answers “yes” when asked if he killed Kim Wall.
Curpen writes that she has received many questions after her husband’s admission.
“I must say that I have lived in a world of guilt for three years, and I can assure you that none of you will be able to handle it the way we have,” he writes.
He concludes by writing that he regrets that Kim Wall’s memory is being destroyed by an industry that believes he has “the dignity and morals of a garbage can.”
Reject criticism
The documentary’s publisher, Tine Røgind, denies all the allegations against BT.
Peter Madsen has known from the beginning that he spoke to a journalist and that the investigation was journalistic in nature. Peter Madsen has realized that the conversations were recorded, and has also agreed to use them in the program, “he writes.
Married in jail
Madsen and Curpen were married in January at Herstedvester Prison in Albertslund, where Madsen is serving his sentence.
Curpen is originally from Moscow, but lives in the Finnish city of Salo after he was granted political asylum there after leaving Russia in 2012.
He had previously told the BBC that he worked as a journalist for the opposition newspaper Grani when he was living in Russia.
Now he makes a living as an artist.
Sentenced for life
It was in August 2017 that Kim Wall was killed, abused, and separated after joining Madsen on his homemade submarine to make a report.
Later, the body parts were thrown into the sea and then the submarine sank.
In August 2018, Madsen was sentenced to life in prison for torturing, maiming and killing Wall.
