Owl Rescued from World Famous New York Christmas Tree – NRK Urix – Foreign Documentaries & News

“Everyone” in New York (and many others) has an opinion on what is called the most famous Christmas tree in the world. This is always the case. There are strong messages in newspapers and social networks.

But suddenly it became something positive and enjoyable to talk about. This year, the tree had a pleasant surprise to offer, well hidden among what many believe to be an unappealing appearance.

The owl has given the tree many positive reviews.

– The ugliest tree

This year’s Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center is 23 feet tall. The tree, a Norwegian spruce type, was transported to Manhattan from Oneonta in New York state, where it was felled, last Saturday.

Criticism was not long in coming. It is, to put it mildly, slim with a spruce bar at the bottom of the tree. Some believe that the tree is the ugliest thing ever seen in Rockefeller Center. Others see it as a symbol of 2020, just sad.

An employee of the transport company found the owl. His wife reported to the Ravensbeard Wildlife Center in New York.

– The owl was found among large branches, dehydrated and hungry, but was otherwise in good shape, says Ellen Kalish, director of the center.

Kalish says that it is a male owl of the type grind owl (Aegolius acadicus), one of the smallest species of owls. The owl was checked out by a vet on Wednesday and is now being cared for by the Ravensbeard Wildlife Center.

Back to its proper element

– Get as many mice as you want. I think this is so nice, that it was a mystery inside the Christmas tree, Kalish tells the New York Post.

The plan is to return the bird to its proper element over the weekend.

At Rockefeller Center, the tree is now being prepared and decorated, and then the candle is lit in early December. No owl.
