12 people are involved in a serious traffic accident between a bus and a car in Luster on Tuesday morning. One person’s death has been confirmed.

The message about the accident between a bus and a car arrived at 09.44.

On Tuesday afternoon, police confirmed that one person died after the accident. Family members have been notified.

– There are a total of 12 people involved in the accident. 10 people on the bus, several of whom have minor injuries, and two people in the car, of which the extent of the damage is severe, police wrote in a press release at 11:45.

The condition of the other person who was injured remains serious.

Police initially described the crash site as chaotic. An air ambulance and a rescue helicopter were dispatched to the scene.

They write that the police are still at the scene of the accident together with representatives of the accident group of the Norwegian Public Roads Administration.

– Investigations are underway to be able to say more about the course of events and the cause of the accident. Police will open a case on the matter, it says in the press release.

On-duty fire chief Geir Ove Sva at Sogn Fire and Rescue told VG that a trapped person had been removed from the car, who was then transported by ambulance.

The accident occurred between the Supshølen and Hafslo tunnel on provincial road 55. The road was completely closed for a long time, but now there is a manual route in place, Vegtrafikksentralen reports in Vest.

The fire marshal on duty asks people to be careful if they are going to drive around the area today. Webcam footage from the road shows that it is snowing in the area.

– It’s slippery like hitting on the roads here so people have to take it easy.

The accident group of the Norwegian Public Roads Administration has been notified.
