(Manchester United 5-0 RB Leipzig) Ole Gunnar Solskjær (47) got everything right from the wing when he won the “Norwegian” match against Alexander Sørloth (24), which debuted in the Champions League.

– This is one of the biggest triumphs Solskjær has had as Manchester United manager, says Jan Åge Fjørtoft.

– It’s a great sport in Solskjær. Very good match management. He was perfect with the battle plan and perfectly right with the changes he has made, says Viasport expert Lars Tjærnås.

– The 5-0 was a very flattering result, Solskjær said in an interview broadcast by Viasport.

Thanks to three goals from Marcus Rashford and one from Mason Greenwood and Anthony Martial, Manchester United top Group H in the Champions League with a full pot after two games.

And just like in the 2-1 win over PSG, when Solskjær topped Thomas Tuchel, the Norwegian emerged victorious from a tactical battle against a German coach.

– Our players performed fantastically. The preparations were very good. They were looking forward to the game, because they knew it was going to be difficult. We were amazing, says Solskjær.

Julian Nagelsmann (33) leads a team from Leipzig that generally creates opportunities in cubes and teams, but at Old Trafford they were completely silenced after Solskjær for the third consecutive game changed formation. After 3–5–2 against PSG and 4–2–3–1 against Chelsea, United were 4-4-2 with a diamond-shaped midfield.

It gave the “red devils” the advantage in an even, strategic and low-chance match. At half-time Greenwood, well over the right side of the offside line, had sent United to the lead after a goal pass from Paul Pogba.

– Another tactical triumph for Solskjær, wrote Manchester Evening News journalist Samuel Luckhurst Twitter after the first round.

After the break, United continued to neutralize Leipzig, until the hour passed and Solskjær made their substitutions. Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes entered. It took immediate effect.

Fernandes played through Rashford only with the goalkeeper, the Englishman was calm and controlled only with the goalkeeper, and after a VAR check the score was confirmed. Seconds later, the 22-year-old hit again, after Fred hit a Leipzig player’s ball high up on the field, and Rashford threw the ball into the corner, to cheers from Solskjær on the training bench.

A stunned Nagelsmann had to say that his team completely disintegrated. Five minutes before the end, Anthony Martial was fouled by Marcel Sabitzer on the 16 meters. The Frenchman took responsibility and increased to 4-0 from the penalty spot.

In extra time, Rashford scored his third of the night to applause and a big smile from Solskjær. He is only the second Manchester United player to score a hat trick after coming off the bench, after Solskjær against Nottingham Forest in 1999.

– The manager asked me to come in and contribute with rhythm, says Rashford.

– Masterful, says Tjærnås about United’s performance in the last half hour.

– Solskjær is tactically underrated, reports Manchester Brazilian correspondent Fred Caldeira Twitter.

Sørloth came in in the 65th minute and was on the field for United’s last four goals, unable to make a name for himself at the top. It was Trøndelag’s first appearance in the Champions League.

P.S! After the match, Solskjær confirmed that new signing Alex Telles lost the match because he has tested positive for coronavirus.
