“One More Thing” Event: Apple Launches New Macs

[ad_1]

Norwegian time Tuesday night, Apple will make its third product launch in three months. This time it is the Mac that is in focus, and the company is expected to introduce its first machines with in-house produced Arm chips inside.

This case is continually updated. Press F5 to get the latest version.

Lance M1

M1 is the name of the first Apple chip made specifically for Mac. It consists of an eight-core processor and an integrated graphics chip.

Of course, Apple claims that it is the fastest processor in the world, and especially boasts that it has much lower power consumption than PC alternatives.

With the M1, a Mac can be immediately awakened from sleep mode. Another benefit is that you can run your iOS apps on your Mac.

New MacBook Air

The first computer to come with Apple’s new M1 chip is an updated version of the MacBook Air.

It has the same design as before, but it should be 3.5 times faster than its Intel-based predecessor. There’s no touchscreen yet, but it’s still a high-resolution 13.3-inch Retina display.

The new MacBook Air has a fanless design, which means that it is completely silent. The FaceTime camera needs to be improved too.

Perhaps most interestingly, Apple promises that it has a full 18-hour battery life for video playback. It’s a big ten-hour jump that has been valid so far.

In the US, the new MacBook Air will still cost $ 999. We haven’t received Norwegian prices yet, but the predecessor started at just under 13,000 crowns.

Also new MacBook Pro

Apple is also updating its best-selling laptop, the 13-inch MacBook Pro. Here we are also talking about a boost in terms of performance and battery life. Thanks to the M1, it can last a full 20 hours, according to Apple, which should be “the best battery life on a Mac.”

Pricing still starts at $ 1,299, probably around NOK 15,000.

That’s why it’s important

The fact that Apple is switching from Intel processors to its own chips, called Apple Silicon, is great news and means, among other things, that iOS apps can be used on macOS.

According to Bloomberg, tonight we will see the two new models of MacBook Air and MacBook Pro.

One more thing?

Tonight’s release has the tagline “one more thing”, or one more thing. This is the famous phrase used by the late Apple CEO Steve Jobs when at the end of his launch program it was to introduce the main product or a product that could surprise the audience and the market, writes CW.

So it remains to be seen if the company has something else lurking. There are also rumors about Apple’s first headphones, Bluetooth tracking chips, and a new Apple TV.

Stream directly

We will update this issue continuously overnight, but if you want to follow the release directly, you can watch it on Apple’s website or the company’s YouTube channel, or at the top of our article.
