In addition, TV 2 has acquired the rights to show the qualifying rounds of the European Championship and the UEFA Nations League from 2022 to 2028.

– Both NRK and TV 2 have a clear ambition to broadcast the sporting moments that unite Norway, like the great championships do. This is an agreement that guarantees Norwegians access to top-level international football on the two most important public broadcasters in Norway, the two senior managers explain.
– Part of our task
NRK and TV2 already have the rights to the Men’s Soccer European Championship in 2021 and the Women’s Soccer European Championship in England in 2022, as well as the Men’s Soccer World Cup in Qatar in 2022.
– It is a tough competition for the most attractive sports rights, and then it is more gratifying to have such an agreement in the port. This agreement ensures that NRK can continue to gather and engage the audience in the most important soccer championships for many years, says Thor Gjermund Eriksen.
– How important is it for NRK to obtain this right?
– It is part of our task to be able to gather people. Our mission is to be able to offer great events. And we know that not everyone is interested in football all the time, but we know that when it comes to the World Cup and the European Championships, almost everyone is interested in it.

Naturally, he hopes that Norway will be part of these championships.
– We are proud that the Norwegian team can develop and fight both to participate and to do very well in these tournaments, says the broadcaster.

TV 2 also has other football rights including the UEFA Champions League until 2024, La Liga until 2026, the Premier League until 2022 and the UEFA Europa League until 2021.
The 2024 European Championship will be played in Germany from June 14 to July 14. 24 nations participate.
