Two away games for Norway already in March.

On Monday, it became clear that Norway will face the Netherlands, Turkey, Montenegro, Latvia and Gibraltar in the next qualifying matches for the World Cup.

Now the party configuration is also well defined.

The Norwegian Football Association announced on Tuesday that Norway’s World Cup qualifying schedule will look like this:

Two trips in March

Norway thus plays its first game on March 24 against Gibraltar, the supposedly easier rival in the group. A few days later, Turkey will visit the Ullevaal stadium, before the national team has to travel again when they face Montenegro on March 30.

The three games are the only qualifying games played before the summer.

It is uncertain what the situation of the crown will be like in Europe in March, but the hope is that there may be a chance for the spectators again at least in the next round of selections, which will not be played until the beginning of September.

Positive solbakken

Ståle Solbakken told TV 2 on Monday that he is quite happy with the Norway group draw.

It is clear that the Netherlands is a fierce opponent, but not impossible. So Turkey, Montenegro and Latvia are teams that are very far away. It may be our advantage to take some points away from each other. So it’s clear that it’s important to get off to a good start on this, Solbakken tells TV 2 after the draw.

– I don’t think we should dig deeper after this, says Solbakken, who seems to be a cautious optimist.

All group winners will go directly to the Qatar World Cup in 2022.
