The director of the national team, Ståle Solbakken, is satisfied with the draw.

– I think it was good, there are some tough teams and Holland is always difficult, Solbakken tells NRK.

– I think they are on the rise a lot, they have shown that in the national league, among other things. They can beat anyone, he says.

The director of the national team still adds:

– But it is not impossible to play two good games against them. Hopefully there are more in the group who score points with each other.

– In Turkey you never know exactly where it is and Latvia and Montenegro rent, he says.

Fighting for 13 seats

Therefore, there will be no neighboring settlement in the WC qualifiers for Solbakken men. The Netherlands will be the toughest rival for the national team when qualifying begins.

As for our neighbors Sweden, they ended up in what appears to be a difficult group. There, Janne Andersson’s crew includes companies from Spain, Greece, Georgia and Serbia.

Toppseedee Denmark apparently got easier opposition in the form of Austria, Scotland, Israel, the Faroe Islands, and Moldova.

– Exciting players

NRK football expert Carl-Erik Torp, like Solbakken, believes that the Netherlands is back in a new and better edition.

– Holland is a country with a new good generation with a lot of exciting players. They have been very low and have had a few disappointing years, but now they really are on their way up again.

– We have not had such good experiences with Turkey. We had an episode a few years ago with some mistakes from the goalkeeper, which meant that there was no championship. But it is a fairly affordable country. We have some players who have played there and, to let you know the league, says Torp, who summarizes the group as follows:

– Not very hard, but not the easiest either. In that sense, it was a perfectly fair draw for Norway.

Participated as a player

Europe is fighting for 13 places in the World Cup out of a total of 32. The ten group winners in the standings have secured a ticket. Then three places will be divided into three replay groups including the two teams and two teams from the UEFA national league.

The World Cup qualifiers will be played in the period from March 24 to November 16 of next year. Replay was added to March 2022.

The final of the World Cup in Qatar will be played between November 21 and December 18, 2022.

Norway has not participated in the World Cup since 1998. At that time, our new national team manager, Ståle Solbakken, was part of the team they play.
