There is a hectic meeting activity at Viking. What will be the consequence of the noise around Bjarne Berntsen (63), is still in the blue.
Espen Auberg, head of the legal section of the Norwegian Football Association (NFF), confirms to VG that they will take a closer look at the controversial breakup between Viking and Berntsen.
– We do a first round now during the week. Then we will ask Viking for an explanation. Before that, we won’t be able to say much more, says Auberg.

Rune Bertelsen, chairman of the Viking FK board, admits in an interview with Stavanger Aftenblad that he made “a big mistake” by letting AS’s board handle final negotiations with Berntsen.
It was Bertelsen, who runs Viking FK, and therefore Berntsen’s boss, who should take over the negotiations, as it is the football club and not the limited company that is the employer of the Viking players and coaches.

– Negotiations with Berntsen have been out of our control. We recognize that the moment we felt there was a conflict, we must take action. And when it emerged that Berntsen wanted to extend with Viking beyond 2021, it was Viking FK who should have spoken to him about it. When it came up, he wasn’t awake enough, Bertelsen tells VG.
Instead, it was Chairman of the Board Thor Steinar Sandvik at Viking AS who handled the dialogue with Berntsen, which ended in a bitter rift and all-out conflict on Thursday.
The core of the conflict between Berntsen and Viking AS is that the manager wanted to continue as a sporting director at the club for over a year, while Sandvik only offered him a contract as a sporting director until the 2021 season.
Berntsen initially had a contract as a head coach until 2021.
On Tuesday, Bertelsen announces a Viking FK board meeting.
– We look forward to a dialogue with all parties involved as soon as possible. If we have committed a violation of the rules, we are happy to speak with those who handle such things (NFF), but now we want to find out what Berntsen sees as the right way forward, and take a look at what we do at the club in full. short and maybe even longer image, says Bertelsen.
– What does it mean in plain text?
– This means that we must create good routines and descriptions of where the responsibility to report lies. We must have a good control over these things so as not to end up again in this type of case. I think Viking is going to learn a lot from this. It will affect operations for many years.
– Can this end your withdrawal?
– It is up to the members of Viking FK to decide if I have to go. Basically not a problem if they want it, but I want to be allowed to clean.
– Is Berntsen still in Viking?
– I have no idea. But in that case, it is Viking FK who must be involved in the process, at the same time that we must speak together because it is AS who is sitting on the money.
The chairman of the board, Thor Steinar Sandvik, was impressed and quiet when he spoke to VG on Tuesday shortly after 12 noon.
– We have to sit down and talk a bit. We have not been able to summarize that much. I can’t say anything sensible now, says Sandvik, who says there has been a hectic activity at the meetings since 9am on Tuesday.

– The whole gang affects us. “We have put the club in a difficult situation,” says Sandvik, who warns that there may be developments during the afternoon or Wednesday.
Bjarne Berntsen says Tuesday that he is concentrating on Wednesday’s game against Brann. It emphasizes that it was related to “Viking as Viking”, and not if it negotiated with FK or AS.

Berntsen agreed with Viking AS on a final deal that means he will leave the club one year before his contract expires. His contract stated that the parties could agree on other tasks before the 2021 season, but they did not agree on this.
Berntsen assistants Bjarne Lunde Aarsheim and Morten Jensen will take over as head coaches at Viking starting in 2021.
