The corona virus was first detected in the city of millions of Chinese late last year, before it spread slowly but surely throughout the world.
Warns of new wave of infection
After a month without infection, Chinese authorities are now warning of the danger of another wave of covid-19, multiple international news agencies report.
Wuhan, with its 11 million inhabitants, was quarantined. The city was closed for entry and exit, but foreign citizens were allowed to leave. In recent weeks, authorities have eased the measures. The children were allowed to return to school and travel to and from the city.
On Sunday, the first new case of the virus infection was known. On Monday, local health authorities announced five new cases. Most people are in a housing complex with older residents, they say.
There will also be 11 cases of what are called “asymptomatic” cases in Hubei province, where Wuhan is located. Chinese authorities report common and unusual cases of infection separately, AFP reports.
The news agency writes that health experts have warned that a premature return to a more open and ordinary daily life may lead to a new spread of the virus.
Other cases
In recent days, several new cases have also been reported in the city of Shulan, in Jilin province, in the northeast of the country.
The city, with around 670,000 inhabitants, is closed. The outbreak must originate from a laundry, state media reports. A 45-year-old woman should have infected her husband and several others in the family. All public parks are closed and public transportation stops.
Four million people are registered infected worldwide now and the virus has claimed more than 280,000 lives. In China, 4,600 deaths have been recorded.
