New Bodø / Glimt record – Start with important points in bottom battle – VG

No impossibility is erased for Northerners who have long been league champions. Now it’s about records. There are three games to do that. Against Stabæk (H), Haugesund (B) and Viking (H).

But Glimt’s coach, Kjetil Knutsen, never thinks his team will score 100 goals if they don’t sharpen them. He destroyed the effort against Start. And I think it was the worst game of the year.

– We don’t score a single goal if we don’t understand what it takes. It is power and effort that is lacking. In addition to the offensive group it must work. I’m disappointed. “This was the weakest game of the year for us,” says Kjetil Knutsen.

The yellows of Bodø obviously have to meet again. Offensive machinery that otherwise worked well didn’t work against Start. The home team could have easily won, and got two more points, before Sunday’s all-important game against Mjøndalen.

– This was an important point. Some will say it was an “extra point” when the opponent is Bodø / Glimt, in my opinion the best team in the Nordic countries, but we played a very good match. In fact, we were a bit disappointed not to have three points after this game, says Joey Hardarson.

Bodø / Glimt is up to 72 points in 27 games. The point they scored against Start on Wednesday night in Kristiansand was enough to take away Molde’s old record (71 points) from 2014. They broke the scoring record in the previous round of the series when they devastated Rosenborg (5-1) in Aspmyra. By the way, it was RBK who topped that stat with 87 goals in 1997. Now Glimt has 91 goals.

Start lost 6-0 at Aspmyra in the previous league meeting between the teams. And it didn’t look promising when Ola Solbakken got the ball into goal in the second minute. But the Glimt wing was out of play. The television images, duly judged, were also shown.

Fortunately for the home team desperately seeking points in the battle for a renewed contract in the Elite Series. They won important duels in midfield and the edges went off. Thus they organized the 1-0. Christian Bolaños cheated on Fredrik Bjørkan. Inside, in front of the goal, he tried to find Eirik Schulze. Under a lot of pressure, Isak Amundsen hit the ball into his own goal.

For the first time this year, Glimt scored just one goal in a league game. It has usually been a celebration of goals.

– There are always challenges. After the league gold was in the box, we had to readjust. Why we played as weak as we did against Start, after the good game against Rosenborg, I don’t have a definitive answer, says Saltnes,

Kasper Junker invented Jonas Deumeland. The score was number 21 for the year. Two behind the top scorer in the Elite Series, Amahl Pellegrino (Kristiansund). Glimt’s Danish forward could rise to 2-1, but headed in just before the break. But Start had the best chance for a goal lead when Bolaños hit Makrini, who headed off the crossbar.
