It has been more than three years since the founder of Tesla announced that he wanted to connect his brain to computers by implanting electrodes. Now you’re done with an update from the Neuralink company.

In 2019, Elon Musk revealed new plans for what can connect machines with human brains.

– Fits the skull well. You can have it under your hair and no one knows it’s there, Musk said during a performance Friday, according to The current industry.

After testing in monkeys, Neuralink is now testing its electrode solution in pigs. But Musk still says they will test the technology on human brains during 2020.

The idea is that part of the skull bone is replaced by a small hard drive with wires that are inserted in strategic places in the brain. This detects nerve activity that you transmit via bluetooth to a device, such as a smartphone.

Skeptical experts

Friday’s presentation was to attract new employees to the project, but several experts doubt Musk’s futuristic ambitions.

Christopher James is Professor of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Warwick. He thinks it’s difficult to judge how successful Musk’s project will be.

– What will impress me here? Control of data in real time on complex movements, repeated and with few errors. And being able to move and at the same time do something else like speak or whistle or whatever!
