A woman in Solingen, Germany is suspected of killing five of her children.
– Yes, I can confirm that five children have been found dead. They were found in an apartment in a block of flats on Hasselstraße in Solingen. The mother is suspected of killing them based on what we now know, says Jan Battenberg, a police spokesman in Wuppertal for VG.
We’re talking about three girls, ages 1, 2, and 3, respectively, and two boys, ages 6 and 8, says Battenberg. The family’s 11-year-old older brother lives and is with a family member.
On Thursday afternoon, the 27-year-old mother left Solingen for Düsseldorf, where she threw herself in front of a train. She survived and is now being treated in a hospital under police surveillance, the spokesperson said.
The police still do not know anything about the motive for the action, but 40 policemen are investigating the apartment where the children were found.
