MACON, GEORGIA (VG) Donald Trump visited the important swing state of Georgia on Saturday night. The state has not voted for a Democratic candidate since 1992.
“In 18 days, we will win the state of Georgia, and we will win four new years in the White House,” Trump said as he took the stage in Macon, just hours after holding a similar election rally in Florida.
It could be more difficult than four years ago: Georgia has become one of the tipping states that can help you decide the choice.
Multiple polls show a very even race among candidates in the state, while a recent Quinnipiac University poll shows Biden’s lead by seven percentage points, writes the New York Times.
VG i Georgia: Black, proud, and maybe decisive – that’s how they want to earn tip status.
The survey was conducted between October 8 and 12, after Trump was discharged from the hospital after being treated for COVID-19.
Yet voters who had lined up to hear Trump in Macon were clear that they wanted him in the White House for four more years. “We love Trump,” they shouted in chorus several times, making the president rejoice.
– I love. I don’t think any politician has heard such cries before, some of us love. Reagan, he was a great guy, but you didn’t hear people say “we love Reagan.” This started a few weeks ago and I love it, he said.

He joked about losing elections
Donald Trump was in clear battle mode on stage and stepped up personal attacks on rival candidate Joe Biden and his family.
“Cage Biden’s people in, cage Hillary,” he said after the crowd yelled “cage them in,” a phrase Trump often used about Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election campaign.

Trump referred to a controversial New York Post tabloid article, which contains allegations about Joe Biden’s son Hunter Biden. Facebook and Twitter question the credibility of the article and have decided to limit its dissemination.
– He has a personal attack mode that is unusual, and quite disgusting to hear, says VG political commentator Hanne Skartveit of Washington DC after the Trump voter meeting.
She notes that it is generally not considered acceptable to persecute the families of others in the US election campaign.
– It is a rhetoric that gets sharper and sharper in each meeting you attend.

Trump also called Biden the “worst presidential candidate in history.”
– Pressures me. Can you imagine that if I lose, what should I do? I lost to the worst candidate in history, I don’t want to feel so good then. “He may have to leave the country, I don’t know,” Trump joked to the audience.
Biden: – It will not be tolerated
Democrat Joe Biden also visited a major tip state Saturday night, when he spoke to voters in Michigan’s industrial city of Detroit, a state Trump narrowly won in 2016.
Here he came with harsh criticism of Trump’s handling of the kidnapping case involving the state’s Governor, Gretchen Whitmer, writes the New York Times.
Several people are accused of having planned to kidnap the governor, and many of them are affiliated with radical right-wing groups. Democrats have said they believe Trump’s rhetoric about white power groups is encouraging such actions.
– There is no place for hate in America. Point. No. It will not be tolerated, Biden told voters in Detroit on Friday.
