– Maybe I crossed the line

(Sheffield United 2-3 Manchester United) Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s men got off to a nightmare start when goalkeeper Dean Henderson blew it after four minutes, but some beautiful counterattacks ensured Manchester United’s victory and a start to the season historically bad for Sheffield United.

Just before the end of the match, cameras captured the two coaches attacking from the sideline, after a late tackle on Marcus Rashford. With another loss, the pressure mounts further on Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder, who now has six points for the team in front of him and nine points for safety.

– I’m sorry. You may have crossed the line with a word, says Solskjær in an interview with Amazon.

– We’re done with that. We’ll go in and have a glass afterward, but there were a couple of late tackles that I reacted to, says Solskjær in an interview with TV 2.

There were 12 consecutive defeats for Manchester United in the 1930/1931 season, which has so far been regarded as the worst start to the season in top-tier English football. At that time, Manchester United won on matchday 13 of the league.

Sheffield United, meanwhile, had played 12 games before Thursday night’s game, with just one point so far. With a further defeat, they would thus enter the history books with the worst start to the season in English top-flight football after 13 games, and not even a final sprint was enough to prevent Manchester United from winning the game.

After 13 games, Sander Berge’s team is left with just one point and is at the bottom of the Premier League table. In historical context, it is true that Portsmouth had two negative points at the same time in 2009/2010, but then they won two games and played a draw.

Manchester United, meanwhile, achieved their tenth consecutive victory in the Premier League and are now just two points behind second with a less disputed match.

For the first time, Dean Henderson had the opportunity early on ahead of David De Gea in a Premier League match where both were injury free. Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær explained the choice with Henderson’s good form and the keeper’s knowledge of the Sheffield team, where Henderson had been on loan the previous two seasons.

However, it didn’t seem like Henderson was used to the pressure from the home team early on. After four minutes, Oliver Burke tackled him when he had to serve the ball. Burke sent the ball into the box, where David McGoldrick appeared and sent the ball past a rebounding Henderson and into the goal.

A nightmare start for Ole Gunnar Solskjær, and shortly afterwards there was also a steep fall for the other Norwegian involved in the match. Sander Berge counted after a run and immediately got behind his thigh. The Norwegian was replaced and will probably have to settle for a few weeks off the bench.

Sheffield United had a great chance to score on a counterattack back in the 16th minute, but John Fleck’s shot from the left missed over the bar.

From then on, it was mainly Manchester United. Marcus Rashford leveled with an excellent reception in the 25th minute and eight minutes later Anthony Martial put the visiting team in the lead after a good pass from Paul Pogba.

The game was reversed and the Manchester guests continued the good counter-attack game in the second half. Only five minutes had passed when they played again and once again it was Rashford who put the ball into goal, although a shot that Sheffield United goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale probably should have avoided.

The match seemed to end with a comfortable away win, but four minutes before the end, the home team got the ball into the goal. Victor Lindelöf headed a ball into the back of the head of Sheffield United forward David McGoldrick, who directed the ball to the back of a confused Henderson.
