The main Argentine newspaper Clarín reports on the raid on the doctor’s office and house, and reports that the investigation is for negligent homicide and that it is said that the person was abandoned. The newspaper has always been a news leader surrounding the death of the soccer legend.
Dr. Leopoldo Luque will now be questioned in the next few hours, the newspaper writes.
The raid was approved by the San Isidro Prosecutor’s Office in Buenos Aires, the newspaper reports. San Isidro is near the suburb of Tigre, where Maradona was found dead in his home Wednesday.
The raids were carried out early Sunday morning after several testimonies, including those of the Dalma, Gianinna and Jana relatives, Maradona’s three daughters.
They requested an examination of the medication administered by Luque and his “team” in recent months during treatment at the Ipensa, La Plata and Olivos clinics.
According to Clarín, the autopsy should not have revealed negligence, but the prosecution will still investigate whether medical negligence is behind the death.
More than 30 police officers participated in Sunday’s raid, where Maradona’s medical journal was among the things they were looking for.
Maradona is said to have repeatedly insisted on leaving the hospital after the stroke operation in early November.
-It can be very, very difficult to handle, but this time we have to resist, Luque told the Spanish newspaper Marca four days before Maradona was discharged at that time.
According to Clarín, it was not Luque who first discovered that Maradona was dead, but the psychiatrist Agustina Cosachov and the psychologist Carlos Díaz, who have been present for Maradona recently.
Argentina has been mourning for several days the death of the soccer star on Wednesday.
