Bolshunov crushed on the last hill
Johannes Høsflot Klæbo had to show his sprinting skills to win the mini tour in Ruka. The opening of the World Cup has ended with two wins and a second place for Klæbo.
The Norwegian ski king started the hunt 26 seconds ahead of competitor Aleksandr Bolshunov and 31 seconds ahead of Emil Iversen.
After halfway through the race, Bolshunov was in the lead. The Russian went all the way, but on the last hill Klæbo showed his pull. Trøndelag’s man fell magnificently to the ground and got the hatch he needed for the two rivals. In the race he stayed away and won ahead of Bolshunov and Iversen in third place.
With the victory, Klæbo Petter Northug passed in the number of World Cup victories.
– He walked quite controlled at first and showed extremely healthy legs at the end, says NRK expert Torgeir Bjørn.
Other Norwegians: Bjørnestad Skar (11), Sjur Røthe (16), Simen Hegstad Krüger (18), Pål Golberg (23), Erik Valnes (24), Didrik Tønseth (27).
