MILANO (VG) A good cross shot was followed by a beautiful assist and an excellent goal. Milan manager Stefano Pioli believes that Jens Petter Hauge (20) proved he has something to do on the bigger stage.

– We knew he was strong, fast and very good coming in from the side. I am very impressed with him and he is a player who is definitely at a high international and European level, says Pioli when asked about Hauge.

Previously, the Milan coach himself had highlighted Bodø / Glimt’s left wing when VG asked him if there were players who impressed him a bit more.

– Especially Hauge and Lode showed a very high level. The whole team showed a high level. The results of Bodø / Glimt prove it and that the league shows a high level also with Molde playing a good game in the Champions League.

– Of course it’s a lot of fun to get noticed, but now I’m very disappointed that we didn’t advance in the tournament, Jens Petter Hauge tells VG.

The left wing occasionally devastated Milan. He easily taunted Franck Kessie with a nice overtaking feint before serving Kasper Junker.

In the second half he got better and better. He also came close to serving Ola Solbakken with just the goalkeeper.

– Jens Petter once again proved that he is an international player. It’s an achievement I think I should be very proud of, says Patrick Berg.

Earlier this year, Jens Petter Hauge said no to Cercle Brugge. Now it’s probably no surprise that even bigger clubs appear.

– It is clear that I have ambitions and dreams in football. Today I feel that I have shown that I can meet a high, high level in just one game. It’s kind of hard to tell if I’m ready to take that step now or if I have to take a small step in between, he says.

– Do they take you home from here or do the big clubs catch you when you leave the stadium here?

– I have plans to join the plane home. There will already be a game on Sunday, he says.

That match, however, can go without Jens Petter Hauge, who got something close to a stage already after five minutes.

– I have a little sensation in the back of my thigh that made me play 80-85 percent. I’m not sure if I’m ready for the Vålerenga game and I have to find out what it is and count as Sunday approaches.

Kjetil Knutsen thinks it’s impressive that Hauge delivered superior performance even though it wasn’t one hundred percent.

– It says a bit about how good it was and how good it could have been, says the coach of Bodø / Glimt.

The atmosphere at the San Siro clearly has unprecedented force.

– It is clear that when you come to such a big stadium, it gives inspiration and extra strength. If it had been an Elite Series match, it could have come out after five minutes, but clearly it helped that it was that opportunity here.
