André Onana totally miscalculated when he had to remove the post from Neco Williams. Behind the back of the Ajax goalkeeper, Curtis Jones slipped in and made the score 1-0 for Liverpool.
– For me, it has been the best Champions League match we have played so far. Everybody knows how good Ajax can be, Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp tells BT Sports.
The victory was enough to secure the group’s promotion, but it didn’t stop there for Liverpool.
At the same time, Midtjylland managed to take a point away from Atalanta in Bergamo.

The Danes went ahead, but Atalanta managed to equalize. Liverpool are therefore group champions, while Ajax and Atalanta will compete for second place when they meet in Amsterdam in the last match.
The injured Liverpool took another blow when Alisson was not ready for the Ajax game, but in his absence young Caoimhin Kelleher took over the responsibility in the Champions League debut.
Klaas-Jan Huntelaar had the opportunity to change things.
“It was an incredible moment for me to make my debut, especially in a Champions League game,” Kelleher told BT Sports.

Goalscorer Curtis Jones opened by crashing the ball off the post early in the game. In the second half, Ajax also had a ball in the metal.
– You can’t just win when the sun is shining. You also have to do it on a cold winter night at Anfield, says Klopp.
Caoimin Kelleher can quickly get more opportunities. Jurgen Klopp said before the game that he doesn’t think Alisson is ready for this weekend’s game against Wolves.
Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joe Gomez, Virgil van Dijk, James Milner, Naby Keïta, Xherdan Shaqiri and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have already been injured.
