Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp probably has doubts as to whether he will give Adrian a second chance between the posts after the sabotage against Aston Villa, but the German’s alternatives are a 21-year-old and a new 17-year-old.

Serbian Marko Grujic admitted that he was loaned to Portuguese Porto at the end of the transfer period, but the midfielder remains the property of Liverpool.

After a loan to German Hertha Berlin last season, Grujic was in the run-up to the current season and also played a few games in the league cup.

In the League Cup defeat against Arsenal, he played, among others, with goalkeeper Adrián, who a few days later had to see seven goals behind him in the league match with Aston Villa.

Ollie Watkins was the three-goal scorer in that game and it is precisely the forward that Grujic makes a prediction about Adrian’s future at Liverpool.

Grujic has commented on a post about Watkins on Instagram where he notes that the forward was weak for the first two games of the season, before shining against Liverpool.

– The first two games went completely. I got impatient and got him out of my Fantasy team … and the rest is history, writes the Serb.

It also continues with an additional comment.

– And made sure Adrian is probably finished in Liverpool.

Liverpool’s Spanish goalkeeper came to meet Aston Villa because first goalkeeper Alisson Becker was injured and only a few minutes into the game made a big mistake. After the match ended, Adrian was left with a total of seven behind.

Grujic himself was not in the call for that match, but at the time he was still a Liverpool player and in all likelihood he will know what has been said.

However, the Premier League champions did not sign a new goalkeeper before the transfer deadline expired, and thus young Caoimhin Kelleher is the Reds’ option for Adrian.

New young goalkeeper

On Thursday, however, it emerged that Liverpool also secured 17-year-old cage keeper Marcelo Pitaluga of Brazilian Fluminense.

The youngster has previously been coached by Alisson Becker’s brother Muriel and is considered a great talent, but the inexperienced will most likely come straight into the team.

However, a press release on Liverpool’s website on Thursday indicated that Pitaluga will train with the first team, while also being available for reserves.

– When he was at the U-17 World Cup we noticed that he was a year younger than the others, and then we thought it was worth taking a closer look at him. When a player is a year younger, he must have some special qualities, Liverpool goalkeeping coach John Achterberg said.

– Now he is here and must improve. He is still young, but there is no pressure, because he is in development and he will not want to pressure such a young player when there is still a lot of work to be done, he continued and also said that Alisson Becker himself has been in Brazil and saw Pitalunga.

Liverpool’s next league game is the Merseyside derby against league leaders Everton. It remains to be seen who is guarding the Reds’ cage in that game, but at least first goalkeeper Alisson Becker is expected to be injured until the end of November.
