Time is running out for the organizer of the World Cup in Lillehammer.
Initially, the World Cup for cross country skiing, jumping and combined will be organized the first weekend of December in Lillehammer, but the event is now on the line.
The Norwegian Ski Federation has yet to receive the infection control protocol approved by the Norwegian authorities, which is absolutely necessary for them to be allowed to organize the World Cup races.

The association already presented the protocol several weeks ago, but the Norwegian authorities only told it on Monday to adjust it. Therefore, on Tuesday they presented a new protocol.
Now they hope to receive comments before the weekend. If not, they expect to have to cancel.
Terje Lund, events manager for the Norwegian Ski Association, tells Nettavisen.
– Must land before the weekend. I don’t see any other possibility if we want to have a chance to fix this, says Lund.

FIS is looking for an alternative solution
He was not later than Wednesday afternoon in a meeting with the International Ski Federation (FIS), which is about to lose patience.
– Since there is uncertainty associated with Lillehammer, FIS has confirmed that they have now investigated the possibility that Finland could take over the sewers if we have to throw in the towel, Lund tells Nettavisen.
He fully understands and respects that FIS seeks alternative possibilities as the situation is.

– We can not wait any longer
Lund is still hopeful that there may be a World Cup race in Lillehammer, but he dares not predict whether it will be a race or not.
Now he just waits for a quick response from the authorities. Because there is so much to do before the stars of winter sports finally appear in the ancient Olympic city.
– We will not turn on the light and unlock two closets on a soccer field. We have to transport snow and set up barracks. We started on Thursday. We can not wait any longer. We’re in overtime overtime, says Lund.

Explain that the mild weather has made them have to use snow storage in order to organize races.
– We have a large snow store, but the snow must be transported down and there are no shovels. Snow freight itself is an important operation. So we have to start with this tomorrow. We can’t wait any longer, says Lund.
Whether it will be in vain remains to be seen.
The online newspaper has previously been in contact with FHI, which says they will not comment on the ongoing process.
