This was stated by the company in a statement on Friday morning.

Bacher will be employed by the company until May 31 next year, but will retire in a week.

He has worked for the company for 30 years and has been in the group’s management for more than eight of them. Bacher has served as CFO for the past two years.

– After nearly 30 years of exciting challenges at Equinor, this is the right time to anticipate new tasks outside the company. I am grateful for the exciting tasks the company has given me over the years, says Lars Christian Bacher in a press release.

Platform manager and foreign top

The outgoing director has previously been, among other things, Equinor’s head of international operations.

He has also been a platform manager at the Norne and Stafjord fields in Norwegian socks.

Bacher led the merger work for the offshore plants of Norsk Hydro and Equinor, and was the national director of the company’s Canadian operations until September 2012.

When Bacher leaves, Svein Skeie will take over as interim CFO. Skeie has been with Equinor since 1996. Since then, he has held various management positions in finance, business development and economic analysis.

I didn’t get the best job

Bjørn Asle Teige is a shop steward for the Safe union at Equinor.

– I’m a bit surprised. At the same time, there has been internal competition to get to the top of the company, but there is only room for one there. Those who weren’t chosen are probably a bit disappointed, Teige says.

Earlier this fall, it was announced that Anders Opedal will take over as CEO on November 2, when Eldar Sætre resigns. Lars Christian Bacher was in the final tie and was one of the strongest candidates to take over the top job.

Teige hits Bacher good shots as he leaves the company.

– You have had the finance job while there have been problems, with low prices and difficult conditions. In that way, you’ve done a good job keeping the business afloat. I have a good impression of the work he has done, says Teige.

According to Teige, the shop stewards have had fairly close contact with Bacher, both as CFO and in his previous jobs.

– We had a lot to do with him in the past. We have always had a good and orderly relationship, he says.
