The rescue operation is still in full swing in Gjerdrum.
– We have been in a rescue operation and we still do. We have had important crews inside the accident scene. So far it has not led to any concrete conclusions, but we are working with all our might. It will continue throughout the afternoon and evening, says task leader Roger Pettersen during a press conference at 3.30pm.
There are still two teams working in the landslide area, receiving assistance from the USAR teams.
– We believe it is still possible to find survivors based on the conditions that have been reported. We do this until the Eastern Police District chief of police and his staff decide something else, Pettersen continues.

Move six people home by hand
– It applies all the time. We work in areas where the police have done intelligence with dogs, and then we go in afterwards, says Fire Chief Morten Thorsen.
He states that rescue teams must move a six-person house by hand and that this work takes time.
See the police press conference at the top of the case.
– It takes time, we are inside and working, outside and having meetings, then the dogs are inside and searching, says Thorsen.
NVE regional leader Toril Hofshagen claims that they are still continuously monitoring the area and helping the municipality.
– There is no higher risk of landslides elsewhere now after the landslide in Gjerdrum, than before the landslide in Gjerdrum, he says.
The sea
I wanted to illuminate the area of the landslide, but the police said no: – There is no stronger light in Europe
It focuses on rescue work in three locations.
– No new findings have been reported, said task force leader Roger Pettersen during the press conference at 12 noon.
He stated that rescue teams now focus their work on three areas.
The Armed Forces were also present during a previous press conference. Task force commander Jacob Helgesen claimed that they, among other things, contributed intelligence analysts, who are experts in interpreting drone imagery.
– Now we also have specially trained search engineer soldiers, who support the work being done in the avalanche.
Sad and desperate
Mayor Anders Østensen (Labor Party) said they are now working to create as normal a daily life as possible for children.
– We are very saddened and desperate about the result of this landslide. We have great compassion for the family members and hope that those who are still missing can be found, he said.
Stine Thorstensen, Head of Upper Secondary School:
– As Anders said, it is important to help young people return to everyday life and a certain form of normality in the form of structure and framework, a family school life. The plan was basically that we will start with all the students tomorrow morning.
He stated that the start of classes has been postponed until the weekend, where the school will be divided in two due to coronary restrictions.
The rescue operation is in full swing
– The rescue operation is in full swing. We are back on track with activities to do during the day. We are still on a rescue operation, Operations Manager Roger Pettersen said during the 9:00 a.m. press conference, continuing:
– We still think we can find survivors.
The task leader says that everyday life has somehow come to Gjerdrum and Ask, and that there are many practical challenges that township residents face together with their township.
Fire Chief Morten Thorsen stated that the rescue operation is still ongoing and that the crew that is now underway will continue until 4 p.m. before changing shifts.
– It is doing a great job that is really heavy, he said.
The cold in the area is working against rescue teams at work to find survivors, admitted Halvard Stave, medical director of the health service work in the area.
– We are in a landslide zone, and we have been very clear in the advice we have given to the police and firefighters that as long as there are cavities available in the landslides in places where the missing may have remained, it is possible to survive. We have to scan the cavities and we must be sure that all relevant cavities have been scanned before we can say we will finish that effort, Stave said.

Depending on the cavity
The leader of the health task, Gunnar Farstad, told a news conference Sunday night that it is not impossible that someone survived, despite the cold temperature.
– The prerequisite is that they are located in a cavity in a building mass, he said.
– There are stories from other parts of the world, although mostly with a higher temperature, where you have survived for a long time. It depends on being in a cavity where there is also isolation, Farstad said.
He added that there are Norwegian experiences in which people have survived in temperatures well below 20 degrees.
