OBERSTDORF (VG) Therese Johaug (32) travels home from Oberstdorf with four golds in four attempts. Tremila became the largest long distance parade in championship history.
– That was incredible. Topping this championship with gold today is a fantastic feeling, Johaug tells VG.
Johaug parked the field after only 3.8 kilometers and the distance finally went crazy 2: 34.2 minutes to Heidi Weng and Frida Karlsson. At most, Johaug was 2: 57.7 minutes ahead of the next woman.
– I feel that it moves me. I know that you get older and older with age, and that this life will soon end. Just to enjoy while you can, the 32-year-old tells NRK.
– It means an incredible amount to be so successful in the World Cup here. I know I don’t have many championships left. So it means a lot more, Johaug tells VG.

Song in DDE
On the way to the finish line, Johaug sang the DDE song “Det går likar no”. In the forest, her partner Lotta Udnes Weng, who did not run, played the hit on a loudspeaker.
– Then I had to sing. I grew up in town and they probably played it in my honor, says Johaug.
Marit Bjørgen previously held the record for the clearest victory in the three-mile championship. Bjørgen beat Krista Pärmäkoski with 1: 49.5 minutes during the 2018 Olympics in classic style.
– Johaug is magnificent. It’s awesome, says Charlotte Kalla, who had to break up, to VG about Johaug.
Behind Johaug was drama:
Tangerte Välbe
In the context of the World Cup, Larisa Lazutina had the most superb victory of 1999 when she beat Olga Danilova by 1:34 minutes.
– It just says something about how strong Therese is and what a great athlete she is, says Ole Morten Iversen, coach of the VG national team.
– I almost never think I have seen Johaug so well. She has hit the mark optimally and is technically doing very well, says Niklas Dyrhaug on VGTV.

Johaug’s most superb three-mile gold in the WC was Falun’s in 2015, when he beat Bjørgen by 52.3 seconds. At the World Cup, the 32-year-old beat his friend Ingvild Flugstad Østberg by 3: 46.5 minutes during the three-mile Holmenkollen race in 2016.
Johaug is now up 14 World Cup golds. So it’s Jelena Välbe’s turn. Only Marit Bjørgen is ahead at 18. Johaug now has ten individual World Cup gold medals at a distance, and is close to Välbe’s record.
