Kim Jong-un declared that the United States remains enemy number one. The only thing that came out of Trump’s unorthodox diplomacy regarding Kim were some beautiful letters and images of leaders exchanging handshakes.
In the first year of Trump’s presidency, tensions rose to dangerous levels. Trump called Kim the little rocket man and threatened him with “fire and rage the world has never seen before.”
Kim described Trump as an elderly and mentally weakened man. Everything changed abruptly in 2018. Kim noted that he was ready to negotiate and may see opportunities in relation to an inexperienced and unconventional president. Trump wanted a foreign policy triumph.
Trump and Kim met three times. In addition, the dictator wrote letters that the president found so beautiful that they fell in love. In Hanoi, just over 13 months ago, the love story ended.

Kim has not ruled out a single nuclear weapon. Instead, the regime has expanded its arsenal.
Since the military parade that ended the party’s congress, the official KCNA news agency reported that the country has “the most powerful weapon in the world.” Rearmament continues and the country is now said to have developed missiles that can be fired from a submarine.
