– We have received a message from a padel team that a person may be disappearing, says police operations manager Stine Mjelde.

The padel party under the auspices of the Bergen Student Sports Association rowed from Breiviken to the courtyard. There were 24 in the paddle tennis company, but when they returned to Breiviken they only had 23.

There was a lot of wind in the area when the padel party started the return trip.

– There has been no specific information about the rollover. But there is one person who has not been accounted for, says Mjelde.

A rescue operation has been launched and several ships and a helicopter are now involved in the search.

Examine if the person is on the ground

The police were notified at 8:23 p.m.

The operations manager says they work in two ways:

– The rescue operation is in full swing at the same time that we are investigating whether the person in question may have reached the ground, says Mjelde.

– If there are people in the paddle tennis company who did not report at the end of the trip, we ask them to call the police.

Searching with all resources

She says that all available resources are in process, whenever needed.

The main rescue center coordinates efforts at sea and in the air, while the police manage resources on land.

Rescue helicopter and air ambulance are in the air, and the fireboat Sjøbrand, the rescue boat and KV “Tor”, KV “Sortland” and KNM “Gnist” are involved in the search at sea.
