Jump, Sports | Teeth off the floor on a stretcher

Norway’s main hope was the one that rose the most in the final round, but did not reach the podium.

Halvor Egner Granerud became the best Norwegian in fourth place in Saturday’s World Cup race in Ruka, Finland.

The German Markus Eisenbichler got his second win of as many as he could after jumps of 146 meters and 141 meters.

With a knockout-style victory, Eisenbichler triumphed ahead of Polish duo Piotr Zyla and Dawid Kubacki.

Granerud jumped the longest in the final round with a full 142 meters. Thus, he climbed two places from sixth place, after the 135 meters in which he landed first.

The Norwegian was just 2.7 points behind the podium and 2.9 points behind second place. Granerud was sanctioned by the judges for a weak landing. There should also be three that Kubacki has become the most after his last jump, thinks Johan Remen Evensen.

– I almost think I should have been after Granerud too. With landing there, it doesn’t deserve three times 19 in style ratings, the NRK insider thought.

Dramatic tooth case

Daniel-André Tande landed on his first jump on Ruka and was carried off the ground by relief teams.

Tande had an uplifting training jump earlier in the day, but only climbed 106.5 meters in his first half. He then fell after crossing his skis when he landed.

The Kongsberg jumper was in obvious pain, struggled to stand on his own two feet and was carried off the ground on a stretcher.

Clas Brede Bråthen, sporting director for the Norwegian national jumping team, was able to tell NRK first that Tande was complaining of knee pain.

Examined in ambulance

The Norwegian jumper was taken to an ambulance where a doctor examined his knee.

The tooth was in excruciating pain after the fall, but after being examined by the doctor in the ambulance, it appears that the Norwegian has escaped the horror.

Sports manager Bråthen tells NRK.

– Doctors are not afraid that something is serious. Daniel manages to stand up. He thinks it hurt a lot. He felt like he was hitting his knee on the ice when he landed. It is positive that he is able to walk on his legs. The doctor says he is not afraid of any injuries to the band.

– All tests show that the knee is stable, says the sports manager.

Relieved tooth

Tande also tells the state channel that he feared the worst, but probably escaped the horror.

The Norwegian jumper says he first feared he would be sidelined for half a year.

– It hurt a lot, Tande tells NRK.

But after the tests in the ambulance, he was able to breathe a sigh of relief.

– We have done all the tests. Everything is fine, says Tande.

Now he hopes to be able to compete again on Sunday.
