Marius Lindvik underwent surgery and had his inflamed wisdom tooth removed on Thursday. At the same time, he stays in the hospital for a few days.

NTB received confirmation on Thursday morning that Lindvik was operated in Innsbruck on Thursday evening. Thus, the nightmare of pain that the national team jumper has gone through in recent days after all the sun marks towards the end.

Earlier on Thursday, Lindvik had to throw in the towel regarding participation in the New Year’s jump race at Garmisch-Partenkirchen. The pain I had as a result of the inflammation in my mouth became too great.

As the teammates jumped through qualification at the Olympiabakken in Garmisch, the national team manager Alexander Stöckl jumped into the car to drive Lindvik to the University Clinic in Innsbruck.

There he was subsequently operated on.

– They must be opened from the outside and go under the jaw comb to rinse and clean. If the inflammatory fluid is removed, they will go in and try to remove the wisdom tooth tonight, Stöckl said before the operation.

Hoppuka may be over

Competitors sympathize with the unfortunate Lindvik. Hoppuke’s leader, Karl Geiger, is among them.

– I’m sorry for him. I wish him all the best, he tells Germany’s Eurosport.

According to the director of the national team, Stöckl, Lindvik will be in the hospital for the next two or three days. Therefore, the Roman Empire will also miss the next jump week at Bergiselbakken in Innsbruck. It’s Sunday.

However, Stöckl will not rule out the boy Rælingen one hundred percent with a view to jumping in Bischofshofen on 5 and 6 January.

– But the chances are slim, says the coach of the national team.

Open with third place

Lindvik has battled painful inflammation since before Christmas and, among other things, has had trouble eating. The boy Rælingen was at the dentist before and after leaving for jump week.

The 22-year-old won last year’s New Year’s jump race at Garmisch-Partenkirchen, but dental problems forced him to give up all plans to repeat that feat.

On Tuesday, the Roman Empire became number three in the inaugural race in Oberstdorf. He sent the 22-year-old straight into the layer of jumpers who were about to fight for the overall winner in jumping week.

Now that opportunity is gone.
