Margins are slim, as five tip states count the last votes that decide the presidential election. Donald Trump leads in three of them, while Joe Biden leads in two.
The battle to become the next president of the United States will be decided by the states of Arizona, Georgia, Nevada, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania.
Democratic candidate Joe Biden now has 253 voters and President Donald Trump has 214. If you count Arizona, Joe Biden has 264 voters and is just six from the required limit of 270 to win the presidential election.
But here’s the uncertainty: because while Fox News and Labor News have given Biden this status, NBC News, New York Times and CNN believe it is too soon.
However, victory is not yet assured for Biden, and only decimals separate the two candidates in various states.
Follow the drama in the VG poll – latest news about the elections
If Biden wins two of these states, or Pennsylvania alone, he will win the presidential election.
Trump must win Pennsylvania, Georgia, North Carolina, Alaska Y be it Arizona or Nevada to win. Another option is if you win in Pennsylvania, Georgia, Alaska, Arizona, and Nevada.
VG gets its figures from the DPA news agency, which updates its figures somewhat later than, say, Fox News. – see general description:
Arizona (11 voters)
This is the status: Both Fox News and the Associated Press have named Joe Biden the winner here, but the New York Times, CNN and MSNBC are reluctant to do the same.
Biden leads with 2.4 percent over Trump when 86 percent of the vote is reported. About 450,000 votes remain to be counted in the state.
Trump has taken over the largest municipality here overnight, Maricopa County, but Biden still leads. However, Trump’s leadership is down by more than 10,000 votes at last count.
When do we know more? Maricopa authorities update their figures at 03:00 pm on Friday Norwegian time. Biden’s campaign manager doesn’t expect a clear result until Friday.
The different scenarios in summary: Such is the way to victory
Georgia (16 voters)
This is the status: Trump leads in Georgia, but Biden takes over. Approximately 0.3 percentage point separates the two candidates in this state.
Roughly 98 percent of the votes counted in the state, so Biden depends on winning the majority of the remaining votes to win here.
In Georgia, it is the city of Atlanta that gives Democrats cause for optimism. In Fulton County, where the city is located, more than 80 percent of the vote is expected to go to Biden.
Trump’s leadership has dropped to around 13,000 votes in the state.
When do we know more? Just before 5:00 p.m. Norwegian time, the state declares that they are approaching the end of the count in the state.
The state says Thursday it will report the remaining mail ballots for the rest of the day and night. The clock is approaching 2:00 p.m. in Georgia and 98 percent of the vote has been counted.

Pennsylvania (20 voters)
This is the status: Trump leads in Pennsylvania, but the leadership is still shrinking. He now leads with about 112,000 votes over Biden.
At 4.30pm, Trump led compared to around 135,000 votes.
Biden’s camp expects very strong numbers from the cities of Pittsburgh and Philadelphia in the next few hours. If Biden gets about 65 percent of the remaining votes, he passes. It is challenging, but not completely impossible.
When do we know more? Updates were expected Thursday morning local time, but the state has announced that the count could continue for several days. This is due to the large number of votes remaining by mail and in advance.
State Interior Minister Kathy Boockvar says there are 500,000 votes left and that it is “definitely possible” that you can declare a winner before Thursday. That is, around Friday morning Norwegian time.

Nevada (6 voters)
This is the status: Joe Biden leads with 0.9 percentage points in Nevada on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. Norwegian time. Biden now has 49.5 percent of the vote in the state, while Trump has 48.5 percent.
If Biden wins Nevada, he gets six voters, which can get him to the 270 he needs to win the election.
89 percent of the votes were counted at 7:30 p.m. Norwegian time, when the latest update came from Nevada.
It’s worth noting that Clark County, where Las Vegas is located, represents the majority of voters in Nevada. Joe Biden is doing very well in this county.
When do we know more? The next big update is expected at 7pm on Friday Norwegian time.
The state will also continue to accept mail-in ballots until November 10 if they were sealed on Election Day.
North Carolina (15 voters)
This is the status: Here, Trump leads by 1.4 percentage points with 95 percent of the votes counted. He has exactly 50 percent of the vote.
Biden needs to take about 65 percent of the remaining votes here to evenly end Trump.
According to the New York Times, it is not yet clear how many mail-in votes have been received, but according to the newspaper, Trump is well placed in the state.
When do we know more? There have been no recent results from this status in more than a day. The state accepts mail-in ballots up to and including November 12, as long as the ballots are stamped and posted before Election Day.
Here it can be several days before we know for sure who won the state.
Alaska (3 voters)
This is the status: Trump has a significant advantage with 62.9 percent of the vote. The status is not considered a tip status.
A Trump victory is considered overwhelmingly likely in Alaska.
When do we know more? Trump is leading big, but a winner isn’t expected here for a while. Only 47 percent of the vote is reported.
They have not yet started counting mail-in votes or early votes after October 29. This doesn’t happen for a week.
