The former president of the United States is up-to-date with the new memoirs in “A Promised Land” and therefore appeared for an interview Sunday on CBS’s “60 Minutes.”

Here he was asked if he had any advice for incumbent President Donald Trump, who has yet to congratulate his opponent Joe Biden on the victory or acknowledge the electoral defeat.

– Well, a president is a public servant. They have the office temporarily, that’s how it’s set up. And when his time is up, it’s his job to put the country first and think beyond his own ego and his own interests and disappointments, Obama responds and continues:

– My advice to President Trump is that if now, so late in the race, he will be remembered as the one who put the country first, it is time for him to do the same.

– Absolutely. I think the timing was probably the day after the election, or at least two days after the election, Obama says, adding that he believes the numbers clearly show that Joe Biden clearly wins and that nothing will change the outcome now.

Withdraw parts of lawsuits

Trump and his campaign apparatus are in full swing with a legal battle to challenge the election results in several states, but progress so far has been little. Trump’s camp has shown no evidence of what they claim is extensive and systematic electoral fraud.

On Sunday, however, Trump announced on Twitter that they have “significant lawsuits” pending, which will soon be filed:

– Our main demands showing that the 2020 elections were held in violation of the constitution, and the unheard of things that were done to change the outcome, will soon be presented, he writes.

Biden is considering a lawsuit: This avoids the transition period

Earlier in the day, Trump wrote that Joe Biden “just won in the eyes of the fake news media” and that he will admit nothing. Twitter has provided the message with a warning that its content is disputed.

At the same time, the Trump campaign has decided to abandon much of its legal battle against the conduct of presidential elections in the important changing state of Pennsylvania, writes the Washington Post.

On Sunday, they filed an adjusted version of the lawsuit, in which, among other things, allegations that observers were not allowed during vote counting were dropped. Trump and his personal attorney Rudy Giuliani have previously said that more than 600,000 votes in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh should be declared invalid because of this.

In an interview with CBS, Obama says he is concerned that other elected Republicans will support the president in his allegations of voter fraud.

Because the Trump camp has not recognized the election results, transition work between the two administrations has been delayed. US infection control expert Anthony Fauci blasted this weekend and said he hoped the Biden administration would soon be able to attend meetings with the White House crown emergency team:

– I have gone through several transitions after working for six presidents over the past 36 years. It is very clear that it is important to achieve a smooth transition between the president. Of course, it would be better if we could collaborate with those who will take over.
