Runar Hauge (19) returns to Bodø / Glimt to replace Jens Petter Hauge. The latter is in Milan and is expected to present himself as an AC Milan player on Thursday.

Little brother Hauge landed in Bodø at 10 the same day and was going straight to train with the team.

Does this mean that you are now back at Glimt?

– Yes, that’s the plan, that, Hauge tells NRK.

Opened a place

The 19-year-old has been on loan at Grorud this season, but is now returning to Bodø.

– A place has opened now, so you have to try to take it while it is available, says the 19-year-old.

In fact, Hauge was prepared to stay at Grorud for the rest of the season, but he believes it is positive to be back home to Bodø.

– It was the plan the whole time to go back and compete for playing time when I finished the loan. So it’s a little different now that Jens Petter has gone to another club. Then a bigger opportunity opened up than it could have been if he had still been here, he tells NRK.

But the fact that it is the elder brother’s place that he takes over doesn’t seem like something I think about much.

– It’s a bit special, but I think the media think about it more than I do. At home he is my brother, but in Aspmyra he was a teammate. I don’t think about it any more than that, says Hauge.

Different careers

They are less than two years what separates the two brothers in age. However, Runar still has some steps towards the older brother in terms of career. Although some also claim that he is ahead of Jens Petter Hauge in the field, considering the age.

– I don’t want to say anything about it. He has always been a good player, says little brother Hauge.

– I can’t say I’m better than him, then I would have been in Milan.

Jens Petter Hauge was recently selected in the A selection that will face Serbia, Romania and Northern Ireland, after having been in the U selection since he was 15.

And probably from Thursday, teammate of Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Runar Hauge himself also graduated in the national team uniform and last played for the under-18 team in 2019. He also played four games for Glimt before being loaned out to Grorud.
