A video camera captured the horse Zarina Bi (5) being hit twice during the warm-up of Saturday’s V75 race in the Swedish Örebro. This has led to strong reactions.

The horse trainer Zarina Bis is Alessandro Gocciadoro. The Italian is disputed in the jogging environment, but was not present in Örebro. Instead, it was a stable boy who was responsible for the scandalous spanking of the five-year-old horse.
Initially, Zarina Bi would be led by perhaps the world’s best trotting dog, Björn Goop, highly respected. But it never happened. When Goop found out about the incident and saw it on video, he responded immediately.
– The first thing I did was take off walking directly to the stable where the horse was standing. I said that the horse should not start after undergoing that treatment. The road vet had arrived just before me. We decided immediately, together with the objective judge, that the horse should not start. It didn’t even take five seconds, Goop says, according to Aftonbladet.
Swedish television 4, in turn, decided not to send the images because the channel considered it animal cruelty and too little to show viewers. In Norway, the use of the whip was banned in 1976, according to Aftenposten.
Being investigated
The incident will now be investigated by government officials in Sweden. There must have been a newly hired person in the Italian Gocciadoro’s stable who was responsible for the flogging.
– I feel a strong dislike for how the horse was treated. I’m really sorry. It does not belong to our jogging lanes. We do not tolerate it. I strongly refrain from that. There is no excuse, says Goop.
He believes that although the stable boy was responsible for the “abominable” act, it is the trainer who always feels the primary responsibility for the horse’s well-being. Goop says he spoke to Gocciadoro and the Italian’s wife after the incident. Both must have dissolved into tears. Goop, however, will not guarantee that he will continue to run Italian-trained horses in the future. For now, however, it will not happen.
– What is happening now is that the union must look at what the regulations say here. We have a good and strict law. We must follow that point. Now it depends on the union what will happen. In anticipation of your investigation, I obviously won’t be running your horses, Goop says.

Express jogging commentator Magnus Nyström believes that the Italian Gocciadoro should be excluded from the Swedish jogging.
– Although Alessandro Gocciadoro himself did not break the rule this time, it is not the first time that he has been involved in questionable things. What does it add to Swedish jogging sports? Nothing, says Nyström.
At the same time, Gocciadoro distances himself from what happened.

Gocciadoro must have complained to the owner of Zarina Bi and reports that the stable boy was immediately fired.
