On the outskirts of Furuset Senter in the Alna district of Oslo, young and old alike gathered on Monday to remember the 13-year-old who died after a crash last Thursday. Many have lit candles and put flowers. A banner with a picture of Dhenujen hangs on a wall along with the phrase “Everyone should be friends.” The phrase is taken from a letter that he liked to sing.
According to the child and youth worker of the Furuset Forum, Nadir Eledrissi, Dhenujen was a spreader of joy with a lot of energy.
– He was just a unique young man. He conveyed joy and love to everyone around him. As we can see from the attendance, it has affected an entire local community, says Eledrissi.
Dhenujen spent much of his free time at the local sports hall, he says.
– He always took on the leadership responsibility and the managerial role, so we just sat down and leaned back. He was a boy that everyone liked. It meant a lot to all of us. We will miss our dear young Dhenujen, says Eledrissi.
Chaiemae Fanna, who also works as a child and youth worker, says she has never seen children and young people as affected by this incident as they are.
– It’s absolutely awful.
Traffic accident resulting in death
Dhenujen was hit by a car when he crossed the road on Thursday last week. The incident occurred on the Maria Dehli road near Grorud station in Oslo.
The 13-year-old boy was transferred to Ullevål hospital, but his life could not be saved.
He died in the hospital the next day.
The tragic accident involved many over the weekend.
In a fundraising campaign, more than 1,600 donors raised almost 340,000 crowns for Dhenujen’s family.
On Saturday, Councilmember Raymond Johansen shared his condolences on Facebook.
– There are few things that are as difficult for a parent as losing their child. Life shouldn’t be like this, he wrote.
Accused of negligent homicide
It was a man in his 30s who was driving through Dhenujen. He fled the scene after the collision.
– He panicked and left. He intended to stop, but several came to help. In a panic, he left the scene, lawyer Harald Fjeldstad said on Friday.
Defend the man in his 30s.
The man is now charged with negligent manslaughter.
He is in preventive prison until January 16 with control of visits and letters. The police request is based on the danger that evidence will be lost and repeated.
The man was recently arrested for driving under the influence of drugs. He does not admit to driving under the influence of drugs when Dhenujen struck, Fjelstad said.
