Alexander worked closely with the spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Care Services, Michael Caputo. Several officials have said they thought Alexander had the support of the White House when he made recommendations, Politico writes.
Yet the Trump administration has repeatedly denied that the United States has viewed herd immunity as an appropriate tactic to combat the pandemic.
