Moss had 12 new cases of infection Monday. It was added to more than 100 cases of infection in the last week, outbreaks in a pub and development of a blood-red infection. Now the mayor is reacting harshly to reports of quarantine violations.

– It is not possible to decorate it. Now we depend on everyone to make an effort, says Mayor Hanne Tollerud to VG about the rates of contagion of blood red in Moss, after the press conference to the municipality and police in the city on Monday.

The second wave of infection has hit Moss very hard.

In the last two weeks, the city has detected so many infected that it is equivalent to 335 people per 100,000 inhabitants. That is 16 times what it has qualified to be categorized as a red country.

Introduce social closure in Moss

About 12 new cases of infection were announced in Moss on Monday, following a total of 106 cases of infection last week. This comes after the city introduced a ban on alcoholic beverages and social closure on December 1.

The mayor pointed out during the press conference that they have received comments that people are breaking the isolation and quarantine in the municipality. She reacts strongly to this.

– I really wonder what people think when they deliberately break quarantine and isolation. It is simply to vent the infection. There’s a reason we have infection control tips, regulations, and guidelines. People should be able to deliver on that, says Tollerud.

The municipal chief doctor, Kristian Krogshus, took particular notice of the infection outbreak at the Fiskebasaren pub in Moss during Monday’s press conference.

On Sunday, 14 of the 23 new cases of infection were linked to the outbreak in the pub. A total of 17 infected people are now part of the outbreak in the pub. This number is expected to increase.

The municipal chief doctor, Kristian Krogshus, says they have no control over how many have been to the Fish Bazaar between 25 and 29 November, which are the critical dates for the outbreak at the pub.

– There have been a lot of people there. We are not sure how many have been there, but we think we will receive more cases in the next week, Krogshus says.

He says that it is a demanding situation to locate all the people who have been to the pub because they have not received guest lists and because they do not know if they will receive them. He claims that multiple guests have contacted only in the last 24 hours.

– We have seen others infected with covid in other nightclubs. But in the past, the infection was only transmitted on the same table. But here there have been people who have been infected on completely different dates who have not sat at the same table, says Krogshus.

The outbreak is the most serious outbreak Moss has right now. You have no idea how big the bud associated with the pub will be.

– We don’t have a good enough overview to predict it. There may be ten new cases of infection. It can be more or less, he says.

This summer, the Fish Bazaar was also closed. Then after a concert for up to 300 people with Plumbo vocalist Lars Erik Blokus.

Moss Township announced the 12 new cases of infection in a news release Monday morning, a week after they introduced stricter infection control rules on December 1 after recent disturbing events.

From Saturday to Sunday, Moss had detected 24 cases of infection, which was the highest the municipality has had since the start of the pandemic, according to the VG summary.

Despite the higher infection rates, the municipality says it will not introduce new measures. This is justified by the fact that the measures they already have are sufficiently strict, according to the municipal superior.
