Ski Austria is in shock and sadness after combined runner Johanna Bassani died unexpectedly at just 18 years old.
The Austrian Ski Federation (ÖSV) reported the death on Friday. She was a great talent among the runners, who are having their breakthrough this season. For the first time, they will participate in the Ski World Cup and become part of the World Cup.
– With great horror and deep sadness, the Austrian Ski Federation received the news that the young athlete Johanna Bassani had died. The combined runner died on Tuesday May 5, 2020, unexpectedly, in his nineteenth year, reports the Austrian federation.
– The Hinzenbach athlete belonged to the national team and was one of the great talents in this sport. With Johanna, passionate about nature and sports, the Nordic ski family and especially the combined women’s national team have lost a warm and popular partner, she continues.
The federation does not declare the cause of death, which is news in Austria. She has participated in the Continental Cup, the Junior World Cup and the Youth Olympic Games.
