MOLDE (VG) Åge Hareide (67) believes that he has failed if he does not lead Rosenborg to the top of Norwegian football, already next year.
– In Rosenborg, it is useless to talk about “progress”. This is a club created for you to say what you want to say, to talk about winning. Forever. It’s a club that is equipped to be the best, says Åge Hareide, where we paradoxically sit in his hometown Molde and talk about Rosenborg.
On Saturday, after training in Lerkendal, Hareide headed to Molde. He had to switch to winter tires, and the tires were at home in Molde.

On Sunday, he drives the hour-long car trip to Kristiansund, where he meets players and support staff before meeting KBK, a battle to become number two in the 2020 Elite Series, behind the magnificent Bodø / Glimt.
That’s just part of the plan for Hareide. He started by making the team so robust that it could be in the top three for a chance to play in Europe in 2021. Today it has been two months since Åge Hareide agreed to become Rosenborg’s coach. On September 1 he started working.

In a month and a half, with Hareide as boss, Rosenborg has scored 10 points from four games and moved up two places in the table. But neither Hareide nor RBK save in second places.
– We will win next year. I might as well put it: my mission is to take Rosenborg to the top for the gold. If I can’t do that, I’ve failed, says Åge Hareide, honestly. These are the demands that both he and the club make on him: get Glimt and Molde back, and win the series.
Hareide likes it. He is glad he said yes to Rosenborg, a stable club in an unstable world right now. He had wanted it since he was contacted. It was only the “damn knee” that caused problems.
– It made me unsure if I should say yes to this. But at the same time Rosenborg gave me time. I felt loved. They said I could start when it suited me. He did something to me, I know the club and the club knows me. In the end, it was easy, Åge Hareide says, about the Rosenborg deal.
He freezes his knee after every training camp trip to Rosenborg, and there has been some ice as he has now been in training camp with the players and assistants every day for a month and a half. He states that the knee “swells, but does not hurt.” And that “goes well”.

– I really want to go to work every day, we have a nice team, a good organization and good facilities, the daily work is pleasant, says Hareide, who says that he sees progress all the time, that he is about to play. on a team that really believes in Lerkendal now.
And therefore, expect much more until 2021.
