STAVANGER (VG) (Viking – Brann 2-0) Veton Berisha (26) scored his first goal against the former club when Viking won the West Country derby.
It has boiled over at Viking after it became clear Thursday last week that Bjarne Berntsen has ended up as head coach after the season. On Tuesday Thor Steinar Sandvik decided to resign as chairman of the board of Viking Fotball AS.
But the Viking players weren’t affected in any way by the situation the club is in when Brann came to visit on Wednesday night, and the Stavanger club took their fourth win in a row.

– It was nice to play a game again and to continue to show that we are a good team, Berntsen tells VG.
After 17 minutes he sat down the first of the night. Zymer Bytyqi provided the ball in the back room, where Berisha and Ole Martin Kolskogen ended up in a racing duel. The fire plug went to the ground, but the referee shook the game.
Thus, Berisha arrived alone with Håkon Opdal, and the Viking forward surely punctured the ball in the corner against old teammates.
– It’s always good to score against old teammates. At the same time, it had been more pleasant with the fans in the stands. So there would have been a completely different framework around the party, Berisha tells VG.
At the celebration, he took the Viking logo, but says there was nothing behind it.
– Not that much. I love Viking, and that’s why I came here, says Berisha.
Viking created several good chances before the break, but neither Yann-Erik de Lanlay nor Sondre Bjørshol put the ball into the goal. Then it was 1-0 at halftime.
The hosts continued to press in the second half, doubling the lead after the break. Fredrik Torsteinbø played through Ylldren Ibrahimaj who scored 2-0.
– After the 1-0 scoreline, I think we controlled a lot until the break, before doing a very good second half, says Berntsen.
There were no more goals, and Brann must travel home empty-handed to Bergen.
– It seems that we are collapsing a little defensively. Offensively, I think we are good when we have the ball, but defensively we have to get all eleven together, and we can’t do that after the first goal. We got zero points, and it is disappointing, Kristoffer Barmen tells Eurosport.
