– I have a twin sister who is a bit of an idiot – NRK Sport – Sports news, results and broadcast schedule

– I have a twin sister who is a bit of an idiot sometimes. I don’t know exactly what happened. It should have been avoided, Lotta Udnes Weng tells NRK.

Sweden’s Jonna Sundling won the World Cup sprint, but Maiken Caspersen Falla took silver. It was his fifth medal in five consecutive World Cups, and with that it became historic.

Lotta Udnes Weng, on the other hand, never had a chance to fight for a medal.

Dissatisfied

On the last hill of the semi-finals, television footage showed Tiril Udnes Weng getting very close to the sister at the end of the corner. The collision caused Lotta Udnes Weng to fall and thus ruined her career.

– He walked too close to me on the curve. Couldn’t have done anything different. She steps on my skis. I’m not taking her with me either, he continues.

– Do you think it was his fault?

– I mean it, yes. We will talk about it after it has passed to the final. He didn’t dare look at me once when I reached the finish line, so I think he understands it’s his fault. It is so unnecessary, says Udnes Weng and continues:

– The best thing for her is to go fast in the final, otherwise I will win, she says with a twinkle in her eyes.

High ceilings

Tiril Udnes Weng finished in sixth place, as the last woman in goal. Ane Appelkvist Stenseth crossed the finish line just before her.

Sister Weng believes that she could have fallen quickly.

– Nobody wants to give up until one of us tries. It might as well have been me. Glad to be on my feet anyway.

When asked if Udnes Weng feared meeting his sister after the final, he answered this:

“I barely met her, and she said when I first had to screw her up, I could have at least done a little bit well in the finale then.” But I don’t think she has progressed from the semi-finals anyway, so we’ll probably be friends in a quarter of an hour, says Udnes Weng.

– How are the dishes?

– We have a high-rise ceiling. I can buy him a coke, then he will be happy again, says Tiril Udnes Weng.

Lotta Udnes Weng was also not sure what a possible ending would look like for her. He felt like his body was responding well to running and descending, but he had a small foot on his legs on the opposite slopes.

– I felt that today Tiril was stronger than me, so in that sense it was good that he did not reach the final. He probably would have had a rough time in a possible ending, but it’s a bit awkward, says Lotta Udnes Weng.

Now he fears that the sprint team in the championship also smokes.

– I had a dream to go, but I knew that the opportunities were not so great. I must have convinced myself today, he concludes.

The big favorites smoked

There was a lot of excitement over whether the athletes managed to tackle the sprint course in the World Cup city on Thursday. Above 16 degrees showed the degree scale. The hot weather contributed to the trail being loose and wet.

Probably the most surprising thing was that big favorites Linn Svahn and Maja Dahlqvist sold out before the final. Woman Nes admits that it was very nice to beat them.

– They are human too. They can’t come here and think they’re going to wreak havoc. It’s great to be Norwegian and beat the Swedes, I must admit, says Lotta Udnes Weng.

Anna Svendsen also reached the semi-finals, but is happy with the performance. This was his debut in the championship.

– It was fun. I would have liked to be in the final, but I have to be happy with seventh place, if it was. It’s really fun that three Norwegians made it to the final. I think today is a good team effort, says Svendsen.
