VALLE (VG) According to Dag-Eilev Fagermo (53), the dispute with Kristiansund player Flamur Kastrati (28) started with a disagreement over a throw-in. Now the Vålerenga coach asks that Kastrati not be punished too harshly.

Before the players’ meeting on Monday and the restitution session the day after the 1-1 match against Kristiansund, Vålerenga coach Dag-Eilev Fagermo gives his version of what caused the dispute with Kastrati.

– What happened was that I yelled “blue!” I thought it was a serve for us. “Blue ball,” I yell, because I’m engaged. Then of course he thought it was green (Kristiansund visitor kits), then he got mad and then screamed “damn garbage.” So I replied, I said “have you scored a goal this year?”, And then I was done with the situation, Fagermo tells VG.

Through an interview with VG on Sunday night, Kastrati apologized for the outburst and claimed that he did not know the meaning of the term “garbage.” Kristiansund has suspended the forward from training and games until the club’s management and the Norwegian Football Association have finished processing the case.

It takes place in the middle of the inter-sport campaign “Stop!” – started after Kastrati’s teammate Amahl Pellegrino (30) got mad at him after the match against Aalesund.

The same thing happened in the previous round with Vålerenga player Ousmane Camara. Now the call of the “victim” Fagermo is that Kastrati is not punished for difficult:

– We must have temperament and commitment. That people can make mistakes, we must accept. Now we are in a campaign and attitude building work is the most important thing. I have no faith in giving Kastrati a crazy punishment. I think that’s wrong. It is a punishment in itself what the media is doing now, and the fact that you must apologize. Punishing people very hard, I do not think it is the most preventive, Fagermo answers questions about how he would have handled himself if one of his players had yelled at him in a similar way at a rival.

– Do you think your general style, as people know you, can help you become someone you want to attack in a match?

– Good question. I have not had that problem as a coach. There may be temperature, it also happens with other coaches, but I have not had a lot of “Mourinho episodes”. I was once stupid with Tommy Høiland after the defeat in the cup final in 2014, admits Fagermo.

Fagermo, then at Odd, described the then-Mold forward as “not the sharpest knife in the drawer”. The outspoken coach apologized shortly after.

– I have a great commitment and “passion”. I know people can get upset about it. But I have experienced other coaches and players who have the same “passion”, and that is part of the product. If it doesn’t, I don’t think it will be successful, says the Vålerenga boss.

In every season since 2006 he has coached a club in the country’s top two divisions.

– I can provoke, sure. But is not opinions to provoke. It is more that I am in the heat of the game, that I do what I can so that my team wins, admits the former coach of Strømsgodset and Odd.

Fagermo doesn’t think it should be the case that Flamur Kastrati played the last game of the season for Kristiansund this year.

– No I dont think so. He has complained and gone to bed, the veteran coach believes.

– Do you two have any prehistory?

– No. I don’t know the person at all, but I have seen the footballer in the Elite Series. It was probably a wish of him to come to Vålerenga when I came. Much was written in the media. Then I got a lot of questions and then I said it was not relevant. Maybe it was a bit painful, says Fagermo.

This winter, the newly hired Vålerenga manager pointed to Kastrati’s injury history as one of the reasons the original Oslo boy was not relevant. At that moment, Kastrati replied.

– But when I came, we had no money. So we didn’t pick up players, less Oldrup, and it came free, Fagermo now points out.

P.S.! VG has requested comment from Flamur Kastrati that the reason for the outbreak was disagreement over throw-ins. He has not responded to the query.
