Hit three shots in the water in the same hole – VG

Tiger Woods (44) has never done so badly on a hole on the PGA Tour. After three strokes in the water, he used ten full strokes on a short par 3 hole during the final round of the Masters Tournament.

Woods was already out of the battle for victory before the disaster. World champion Dustin Johnson led by four strokes before the final round and continued the big game on Sunday.

With a round of four strokes under par, he finished the tournament 20 strokes under par, a historically good result. Never before has anyone done better in the tournament, where Tiger Woods (1997) and Jordan Spieth (2015) held the previous record with 18 strokes under par. Sungjae Im and Cameron Smith shared second place, five strokes behind Johnson.

The victory is Johnson’s first in the big tournament and his second big win overall after victory at the US Open in 2016.

– This is a dream to win Masters. Just getting the green Tiger Woods jacket is great. Absolutely amazing to experience this with my brother (Austin, who is Johnson’s caddy), said the 36-year-old, who was clearly moved after the victory was secured.

Tiger Woods competed at Augusta National as the reigning Masters Tournament champion, after winning a major golf tournament last year for the first time since 2008.

He started well with a ghost-free first round, four shots below par, on Thursday. After two more rounds on a regular basis, he had dropped to 20th place before the final round, where things went really well for the 44-year-old.

Woods was two strokes above par for the day when he hit the 12th hole, a par 3 hole at about 140 yards. The hole is known to have a lot of water in play, and Woods experienced it. His first shot landed near the green and rolled into the water. So it was a penalty shot for Woods, before taking his third shot from an equally short spot in the water. The ball was lifted on the green, but due to many effect spun the ball in the water.

Woods outscored on his third try, but then hit the green bunker in the back. From there, he topped the ball into the water, his third hit in the water on the same hole. After dropping the ball into the bunker again, he stepped onto the green with his eighth shot. Two putts later, the ball was in the hole, after ten strokes.

Woods went with that hole seven full strokes over par, which will be the worst hole on the PGA Tour after nearly 23,789 holes played during his career, writes golf journalist Justin Ray on Twitter.

But maybe it’s all a good sign for next year ?:

– You blank. Ten strokes! On a 3-hole par where he struck out with an eight iron, Eurosport golf commentator Per Haugsrud said when the hole ended.

“It must be the most he’s had in a hole since he jumped from childhood,” Haugsrud continued.

– Must be. “I have never come across a similar catastrophic hole with him,” said commentator Henrik Bjørnstad.

Woods got a win in last year’s tournament, but it could have gone wrong when this happened during the second round:

In the Eurosport studio was, among others, Suzann “Tutta” Pettersen.

“Even for us watching, it hurts all over when you see that,” Pettersen said.

Woods responded with a great play on the last six holes. With five birdies, he said it was a round of 76 shots, four over par. With that, he finished one stroke below par for the tournament and was split in 38th place.

No Norwegian participated in the tournament, where Viktor Hovland became the best amateur last year.
