“We are not going to give in to threats,” Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison said. It was a press conference in January.

A few days earlier, Google had threatened to shut down all search services in the country. The reason is that the government will force Google and Facebook to pay for traffic when news is shared or appears in searches. It was completely out of the question for the tech giants. Facebook has threatened to make it impossible for Australians and publishers to share news on the platform.
