Here Princess Ingrid Alexandra takes the NM gold – VG

The princess won with 12.83 points at the Norwegian championship which was held at Borestranden in Jæren.

– We can confirm that Princess Ingrid Alexandra won the NM final in junior women’s surfing, writes to VG Guri Varpe, Royal Court Communications Manager.

VG also receives confirmation from Brettforbundet that the Crown Prince’s family was present at the competition. The organizer of the competition is Jæren Surfklubb.

– This is the first time there is a separate girls class in the junior category, which is a lot of fun, says Ingeborg S. Nakken, who is the leader of the Jæren surf club.

Co-organizer Brettforbundet was able to show great interest before the event. All the seats had been filled in no time.

– It’s really cool if we ever have a queen who surfs, adds Nakken.

The other podium winners in the junior girls category were:

3. Emma Suphammer
4. Mia Hugin

– There has never been so much interest around an SL, in terms of participants. The senior class quickly filled up with many good surfers. It’s especially fun to see more and more young people show an interest in surfing. Brettforbundet wants to emphasize juniors going forward and set a low threshold for testing in competitions, says Katrine Røed, NM project manager and vice president of Brettforbundet.

Surfamily

It’s no secret that the princess loves to surf. In 2017, the royal family were surfing together in Hoddevik just outside Stadt on the occasion of the opening of the Eurosurf European Championship. Crown Prince Haakon served on the event committee and was previously known as an avid watersports practitioner.

In June, the princess finished 10 years of schooling.

– We couldn’t have been more proud of our beautiful little girl, Crown Princess Mette-Marit wrote on Instagram at the time along with a photo of the Princess and Crown Prince Haakon.

King Harald has also been an avid athlete for many years and has participated in several world sailing championships. He also participated in the 1964, 1968 and 1972 Olympics.

In 1987, he also took World Cup gold with his crew when they beat all class competitors on track and at sea with the ship “Fram X”.
