Even in strong headwinds, the 17-year-old delivers impressive results.
Last week, Henriette Jæger set a new world record of seven for young people under 18. During the National Championship in Bergen, she has yet to impress, even in a match against Norway’s best seniors.

In the 200 meters, the 17-year-old great talent was the best and ran towards the strong time of 23, 60 seconds in a 2-second headwind.
– The time is a bit late, but I have noticed the headwind and it is the last race I have this year. I had a bit of weight on my legs, it’s been a lot lately. I’m super happy! Jæger tells NRK after the race.
– I was very nervous before this race. They push me a bit when they rate me the best, and then you have to act. And then I have run fast this year, and then I have to prove it at the National Championships.
Third exercise
Jæger clearly opened better on the field at 200 meters and took the lead immediately. She held it out to the end and took the NM gold with her.
Conditions in Bergen weren’t optimal, but Jæger was just seven hundredths behind his personal record of 200 meters.
200 meters is the third exercise that Jæger has participated in during the National Championships in Bergen this weekend. In those exercises he has collected two NM golds and a bronze.
– I am very pleased. Gold at 400 meters and 200 meters which I am very happy with, as they can be a bit difficult to combine, since you get so tired of the 400 meters. And very happy with the long bronze, he says.
Norwegian record holder Line Kloster had to be beaten by Jæger, even though she came strong at the end of the 200 meters. Kloster finished second in a time of 23.81 seconds.
