Pål André Helland leaves Rosenborg in favor of Lillestrøm. The 31-year-old was introduced by the canaries on Saturday.
– One of the most important signings in the history of the club.
This was the presentation Helland received from Lillestrøm’s media and communications manager, Morten Stokstad.
After eight straight seasons at Rosenborg, the winger was told he could find a new club. After his best friend Gjermund Åsen left for LSK, he has been on the cards that Helland should follow for a long time.
– He may be the player who has curved the Canary fans the most, or who has made the most effort to get out of control in recent years. I really see that as a sign of respect. I also think they see that I can bear it. Hopefully I get that support now. They are very loud, Helland tells TV 2.
Helland, who was a fan favorite at Rosenborg, admits that leaving RBK is strange, but that it had to happen.
– Things have happened that made it inappropriate to continue there, but it’s not something I want to go into now. I have a very good relationship with almost everyone in the club. I am proud to have been able to make the child’s dream come true, then it is the case that things happen, then you have to make the most of it, Helland tells TV 2.
The 31-year-old from Kyrksæterøra says he takes the whole family on mobile cargo to Romerike.
Lillestrøm sports director Simon Mesfin was naturally very pleased with the club’s latest signing.
– We are interested in balancing the young squad we have with the right players. When we talk about the right players, we are talking about players who can have the best sports culture and experience. We have previously chosen Gjermund Åsen, he is in the same category. We were very interested in getting Helland’s profile into the club, Mesfin tells TV 2.
