Sturla Holm Lægreid (23) had her breakthrough at the World Cup on Saturday. But this isn’t the first time that the sensation has offered top ratings.

Hit percentage is the keyword after Sturla Holm Lægreid’s sensational victory at Kontiolahti. At the Finland booth on Saturday, there were 100 percent visits. So far in the World Cup race, 98.75 percent are the result with the rifle.

And in school, it was 85.1 percent: 23 out of 27 sixes in high school.

– He was probably a typical nerd, says Lægreid to VG.

The 23-year-old from Bærum is in other words extremely Accurate, and the twenty hits in the World Cup opener continued to outstrip last year’s champion Johannes Thingnes Bø by 19.6 seconds.

Check out the race here:

Lægreid admits that he thinks it’s funny that the media got the impressive high school diploma.

– How have you managed both at school and on the ski slope at the same time?

– It’s funny you mention it. He was very good at combining things in high school. He was good at immersing myself in things and I think it’s fun to learn, he says.

He tried to start as a full-time student after high school, but eventually realized that he had to dedicate himself more to biathlon. And there he has used his “inner nerd” to improve.

– When I chose to focus 100% on biathlon, I had time to “nerdy” a bit on biathlon as well, and it has raised me as a biathlete. Being able to experiment a bit and refine the details, that’s how I step onto the shooting range.

Saturday’s winner told NRK that he was unsuccessful as a biathlete before he “stopped thinking” on the stands.

Now you have found a shooting trick that works over and over again.

– 79 out of 80 hits in the World Cup, how is it possible?

– If you ask me, I’ll ask you. I have no idea. It feels quite unreal to perform on top over and over again. I’m very happy to be able to do it the way I do, says the Bærum runner, revealing the “trick”:

– I have a point on the way to the shoot that I have fixed in advance. At that point, I choose to restart and focus on the breath. It seems to work for me.

Jobs is to say the least. Because while he probably would have been beaten by Johannes Thingnes Bø if Stryningen had fired 20 hits on Saturday, the new Norwegian sensation showed surprising form on the track.

– It’s one of the toughest races I’ve ever seen. With a running time that is just 50 seconds behind Johann Thingnes Bø, this is a fantastic run from Sturla. Where she impresses most today is on the track, says biathlon expert Liv Grete Skjelbreid at NRK.

The winner did not dare to dream of victory before the race.

– But when I heard that he was suddenly leading, I realized that he was in the fight for the yellow jersey and victory. It was a lot of fun, he says.

The victory in his fifth World Cup race also “crushes” the victory of Johannes Thingnes Bøs in his ninth race. Ole Einar Bjørndalen and Martin Fourcade, for example, did not win until they had run more than 30 races.

Now he will be the leader’s jersey and will start number one in the sprint on Sunday that starts at 10.30.

And if we’re going to roll the dice for Saturday’s race, it’s not very difficult to choose how many eyes the dice will have:
